Turner Custom Building Inc., established in Hingham in 1992, is an area leader in the field of historic restorations, custom home building, remodeling and smaller projects of all types. Over the last 30 years, they have continuously strived to provide value, uncompromising quality, and unparalleled customer service. Tom Turner, attributes the company’s longstanding success to ongoing collaboration and transparent communication with the customer, project architect, designers, and subcontractors, thus ensuring excellence in the complex, time and budget sensitive task, of building and remodeling homes.

Having built his first custom home back in Buffalo NY circa 1977, some would say Tom Turner was born with a hammer in his hand. The question remains was the hammer used primarily to construct the “custom fort”, or to keep his nine siblings from entering? His siblings would argue the latter. Showing a natural affinity for building at an early age, it was Tom’s mother who then decided that 15 year old Tom (along with 9 other helpers) should GC and build a two-story addition on their Lake Ontario cottage. Tom jumped at the opportunity, for it meant he would no longer have to share a hot attic room with his 3 brothers. No longer owned by the Turner’s, you or the current owner will be glad to know that this infamous cottage addition has stood the test of time.
In search of opportunity, and always more space, the Turner family relocated to Hingham MA in 1984. Not long after graduation, (and a brief stint of barefoot living on a charter sailboat in Tampa Florida), Tom began to realize his professional dream and went to work for one of the premier builders in the town of Hingham. It was then nine years later in 1992, at the age of 26, that Tom went on to establish Turner Custom Building, Inc. Though young, and surrounded by more established builders, Tom’s reputation for being dependable, skilled, detail-oriented, “crazy clean”, and just plain fun to be around, pushed him then and still to this day, to the list of top builders to recommend in the town of Hingham.
Yesterday, today and tomorrow, every Turner Custom Building project, from expansive waterfront homes to historic restorations, pool houses, kitchens, baths and additions, is a well, orchestrated collaboration, bringing together skilled tradespeople focused on meeting the specific needs of each individual client. Excellence, established over three decades of experience, is a result of this collaboration. Tom believes that his personalized attention and supervision are instrumental to the business’s success, and therefore he has made the conscious decision to maintain his company at a size that allows him to personally supervise each phase of construction.
